FTP

FTP connection disconnected

The server will disconnect you from the FTP session if you remain inactive for over 3 minutes.

FTP connection timed out
Many factors can affect the ability to connect, mostly first ensure that you have the correct hostname/ip and correct username/password. If you have continue having problems connecting, try another FTP client or, if your FTP client supports it, restore the default settings on your old one. If you have any futher problems, please contact FC support.

FTP connection abruptly dropped while I was in the middle of an upload
It is important to first verify that your internet service connection is not having any issues which would reduce the rate of your throughput speed. Next use Ensim or SSH (if availible to your account) to determine if you are within 3% to 5% of having used your storage space. If you are within that range, FTP slowed the upload so that you would not completely fill the storage space. Please remove enough files from the storage space to drop your usage within a safe range or request more bandwidth by contacting FC support.

Site Management

I can't access the site management console for my website
If you can not access it after ensuring the URL for the console is correct (given to you in your welcome email) please contact FC support.

I can't access my statistics
First ensure that you can access the site management console for your website (given to you in your welcome email), if you can not please contact FC support. If you can access the statistic area in the console and no activity is showing for a certain timeframe, the statistics may have not yet been generated. Web usage statistics are generated every evening relative to your server location.

E-mail & Web-mail

I can't login to the POP or SMTP servers to send/retrieve my email

Ensure that your email client has the correct server information for POP and SMTP (generally mail.yourdomain.com), and that your login ID (username@yourdomain.com) and password are correct.

I get a 'password' error when trying to retrieve my email
Ensure that the password you've entered is correct and that your email client is saving this information for future connections.

Publishing

When I upload my website, I still receive the default placeholder page or it places the files inside my personal web folder

Ensure the content you've uploaded is to the correct site web document folder (not personal web folders), located at your "/var/www/html/" area. Also be sure that the default index that was created for you has been replaced with your own.

FrontPage

When I publish my site, none of the FrontPage extensions work
Please note that for FrontPage extensions to work correctly, they must be uploaded from the FrontPage Web Publisher, not a standard FTP client.

When I publish with FrontPage98, it places the files inside my personal web folder
FrontPage98 is programmed to assume the files are meant to be uploaded to the root owner's web document folder with most configurations. You must upgrade to FrontPage 2000 (or higher) to solve this problem.

CGI/PERL

How do I test to see if CGI is working?
Create a simple test script that you can ensure will complete without errors and attempt to execute it:

I am interested in writing scripts for my site, where can I find the CGI-BIN?
On the server, you need not place the script in a designated CGI-BIN. However if you are concerned with securing your site, you are free to place the CGI scripts outside the web folder and safetly include them through other scripts.

MySQL

What will I need to know to use MySQL?
First ensure that you can access your MySQL database with the information given to you in your welcome email, if you can not please contact FC support. Beyond this you need to refer to http://www.mysql.com for documentation on how to use the MySQL system.

Apache

How do I set something else besides index.html to be the default page to come up?
If you need an index file which is not a .html or .php extension, please contact FC support to have it enabled.

General

What is your policy on bandwidth?
While we do not limit your transfer rate within reasonable use, you are limited to the amount of data trasferred to the agreement show in your welcome email. We will attempt to notify you if you reach this limit so that you understand why th site had been locked until the usage monthly cycle starts over. If you wish to alter your service plan and increase your bandwidth, please contact FC support.

How is bandwidth measured and can I moniter it other statistics myself? Bandwidth usage is measured automatically at the network switch hardware level. To check your bandwidth usage at any time, log into the control panel for your site and click on the bandwidth moniter area.

What software is included in my FastCube plan?
Software resources will vary depending on the FC plan you chose, please consult your welcome email for details or contact FC support.

Will my site have a web-based control panel for site management?
All sites have access to Ensim control panel accessed by using the url listed in your welcome email.

Can I create mail accounts on my server? What software is included for mail?
All sites have mail support using SendMail. To configure your mail accounts use the site management console listed in your welcome email.

Are any e-commerce solutions available?
Contact FC support if you are need of specialized software installs for e-commerce.

Do I need an IP for each domain on my site?
You only need a specialized IP if need SSL or a specialized software which requires IP access rather than name based access.

Can I get additional IP addresses?
Yes, additional IP addresses may be requested by contacting support@fastcube.com.
